ABOUT TOUR DE FARM

The heart and motivation behind this race all originated from the need and the will to give back to the children of Middelburg – our local town.

This race is a family event with different distance categories: Ultra Marathon, Marathon, Half Marathon and a Fun Race. With our attractive prize money, we draw competitive riders from all over the country and host between 1000 and 1500 cyclists every year – making it one of the biggest mountain bike races in Mpumalanga… and the fastest mountain bike race in South Africa!

Our main beneficiaries include, but are not limited to, Middelburg Primary School, Middelburg Hoërskool and Care Village, the local orphanage.

The purpose of the funds generated by this event is to assist youngsters from disadvantaged communities, who are left in dire need to be able to complete their schooling.

Since 2011, The Alzu Tour de Farm Mountain Bike Race is held at the Alzu N4 Petroport with a track that runs through the Alzu- and neighbouring farms where cyclists are promised a ‘wow’-experience as the route passes the rhino and buffalo game camp.
